Field Trip

Today I chaperoned Jonah's fifth grade field trip to Shaker village. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and luckily the weather was gorgeous also.

There were people in costume of the period as well as live animals.

They have live demonstrations, such as making yarn from wool, which were very interesting.

Wake up Jonah!
The best part was at the end in this beautiful, huge barn.

They had a live sheep shearing demonstration. It was very interesting and entertaining. The kids loved it.

We had a wonderful time and I totally recommend Shaker village for a day trip. They have a restaurant where they grow all the food that they prepare. I'm sure it's delicious and would love to eat there sometime. You can even rent a room in one of the old buildings overnight, which might be kind of creepy I think.
