Pumpkin Patch
We took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago. The day we chose to go was hot, hot, hot! I guess we should have waited until later in October to go but then I thought it would be more crowded and the weather might be yucky. Cold and rainy yucky like today. Anyway we managed to have a good time, I think. Caroline was much more into the activities this year, like the petting zoo. She freaked out on the train ride for some reason though. Our good friends Rob and Connie brought their son Alex along too which added to the fun.
You might remember the big chair from last year. The more kids involved the more difficult the photo. Don't the kids look miserable? "Smile and look like you're having fun darn it!" Next outing, torture with Santa!

GI Jonah?
Here is Jonah in his new webelo cub scout uniform for the first time. Don't get me wrong. I'm very excited to be having two little girls but I've also gotten especially sensitive to my little boy growing up. Or maybe it's the pregnancy hormones. Anyway I got a little teary eyed when he put this new uniform on. Webelo's are the end of cub scouts before becoming an official boy scout. Being a webelo Jonah is expected to participate in the scouts a lot more including camping trips.
Here are David and Jonah during a camping trip over the summer at the Lexington Legends baseball field. I know this wasn't really a roughing it kind of camping trip but the boys had a ball. They got to watch the game, camp out on the outfield, and watch a movie on the big scoreboard screen. David said all the boys ran around like crazy maniacs until about 2am. (Another scout's mom very kindly gave me this photo which was during the missing camera period.)
A couple of weekends ago David and Jonah got to go camping again. They had a great time but nearly froze at night. David even missed a UK game in order to take Jonah. Well he did listen to the game on the radio, but with no big screen or Bud Light. Us girls stay home for now during these trips. Maybe when Caroline (and Kate?) are a little older we'll attempt camping.
Here's Jonah with a couple of his buddies.
They have all kinds of activities for the boys like shooting a bb gun, building a rocket, and pushing a big ball around. Here's a top secret training video David recorded from the trip. Is the military next? Oh gosh. As his mom I can't even think about that!

Say Cheese!
We thought this was cute.
She said her first sentence yesterday too. She told me, "Go away!" Aren't kids sweet?
